Willie James Marshall Smith

Mr. Willie James Marshall Smith (Weeman) was born on April 16, 1946 to parents, Catherine and Wilber Smith.

He attended Birmingham city schools.  Prior to him retiring in 2008, Willie (Weeman) was a heavy machinery operator and master mechanic. If it was broken, he could fix it.  I can hear him say “Let me get my tools”.  Although he was not physically able to repair vehicles, he would provide guidance and instruction to those who needed a mechanic diagnosis.

Willie (Weeman) was also a family-oriented devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather protecting and fighting for those he loved and cherished. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for family and there was nothing family would not do for him. He was respected and honored by all that knew him.
Just like he fought for family, he fought for years with the “Good Fight of Faith” during every health obstacle, challenge and medical diagnosis,  he never gave up. 

With his “Faith in God”, he overcame many obstacles with a Dedicated, Committed and Praying wife, Rosa B. Smith of 44 years, in the trenches with him, keeping her holy vow through sickness and in health.  His physical battle came to an end on Saturday, December 27, 2025, finding a new beginning that’s Victorious in Jesus, who he received as his Lord and Savior.

Willie is preceded in death his parents Catherine and Wilber Smith, Sibling Wilma Jean Brooks; Sons; Eddie McQuartly, Lewis Lee Showers Jr, and Otis McQuarley. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; loving wife; Rosa B Smith, daughters; Chery Satterfield, Lisa J. Abrams (Tony) Denise Bell (Alfonza) Sons; Ambrose Smith (Shununa), Richard Showers (Tamara) Johnnie Showers (Michelle) Raymond Showers, special daughter; Ruby Gaines Jackson, brothers, Lorenzo (Wanda) Smith, Leotis Smith; sister,  Carla Smith; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Robert) Stearns; and a host of family, friends, numerous cousins, 33 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
