Willie Mae Jones

Willie Mae Jones, daughter of the late William and Mary Lowe Jones was born April 27, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the third of nine children born to their union. She attended the public schools of Hooper City and was a graduate of Hooper City High School.After graduation, she enlisted in the US Army. After her years of service, she lived in Washington, D.C. before coming back to Birmingham. Upon her return, she worked for the Birmingham Police Department for 16 years until her retirement in 2005.She quietly departed this life on April 5, 2020, at the age of 98.She was preceded in death by her brother Richard and her sisters, Annie Mae, Lela, Lola, Rosie and Susie. She leaves to cherish her brother Oscar (Deborah) of Birmingham, Alabama and her brother Curtis (Jannie) of Greenville, South Carolina, and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her.
