Vera Boggan Obituary

Ms. Vera Mae Boggan was born on July 16, 1940, in Forest Home, Alabama to Harvey and Lucille Smith who preceded her in death.She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Zion Rest Methodist Church. In her early adulthood, she married and moved to Birmingham, joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church, and was baptized by Pastor Icese Thomas. After years of singing in the choir and being chairperson of programs at Bethlehem, she moved her membership to New St. Mark Baptist Church under Reverend Douglas Redd. Later she joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Kingston under Pastor George Brown.Her hobbies were reading the bible, discussing what she read, listening to gospel music on the radio, and supporting the various quartet programs, especially the Golden Hummingbirds of Birmingham, Alabama, where she was nick named ‘The Groupie."Her special love in her life was her grandson, who was a special birthday gift to her. She was blessed with an abundance offriends in life, many who preceded her in death. She loved the workers and working at UAB Hospital until her illness.She departed this life on Thursday, October 14, 2021.She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins,and her only son, Leslie Boggan.She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Lynda (Patrick) Williams; grandson, Kameron; her nieces, Joyce Rice, Shelia (Reginald) Coleman, and Lisa (Willie Sr., deceased) Terrell; nephews, Larry (Patricia) Boggan and Kenneth Boggan; a host of cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews; her extended families, Pastor George Brown, the members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Kingston, the members of New St. Mark Baptist Church, Reverend Joseph Hood, Robert Jackson, Vera Pope, Mary Holyfield, Staff and Mangers Mr. Ed Crump and Mr. John Philmore, Coworkers of Environmental Services and other workers of UAB Hospital, especially Roslyn Rudolph, Tracy Page and so many others.
