Toresa Jones

Obituary

On Friday, September 6, 2013, God's angel closed the eyes of Sister Toresa C. Jones and whispered "Peace be Thine," taking her to her heavenly home. Mrs. Toresa C. Jones was born on June 8, 1932 to the late James and Lizzie Gladney in Marengo County, Dixons Mills, Alabama. She united with New Mt. Olive in Uniontown, Alabama. She later moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she joined Beulah Baptist Church. Five sisters, three brothers, two brothers-in-law preceded her in death: Daisy B. Turner, Carrie Ash, Ola Lee Gladney, Earlene Lewis, Fannie Gladney, James Gladney, Roosevelt Gladney, Sam Gladney, Willie Lewis and William Turner. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Yolanda E. Patton. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, William J. (Linda) Ash; one sister,. Josie R. Johnson; one granddaughter, Amethyst (Fred) Rayford; one grandson, James L. Ash; two great grandsons, James Ash, Jr. and Jacob E. Patton; two great granddaughters, Destinee Rayford and De'Sha Rayford; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
