Susie M. (Flanigan) Terry

Susie Mae Montgomery Terry was born to the late Lizzie
Flanigan and Isaac Montgomery on December 25, 1935, in
Uniontown, Alabama.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and later joined New
Hope Baptist Church. She continued serving and moved up higher
to Zion Hill Full Gospel Church.
Her formal education was received through the Perry County
Public Schools.
Susie and the late Jerry were united in Holy Matrimony. To
this union, a wonderful son, Anthony was born.
To her family and friends alike, Susie was affectionately
known as “Sue”. However, her friends referred to her as “Amy
Vanderbilt”.
Her service as a Server, Cashier, Environmental Service
Supervisor and so many other positions, were a great asset to
the Birmingham Community. She was employed at A.G. Gaston
Motel, which was her first “Big” job, where she was loved by all.
Sue loved to work and meet people. She was a very direct and
serious person when it came to family, people, and work. For
years, she worked alongside many of her friends which were
employees at Simon and Mogilner. Even though, after many years
of dedicated service, Sue retired from Black Creek Integrated
Systems Corporation of Irondale, Alabama.
On July 7, 2024, Susie transitioned to her eternal home.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Lizzie Flanigan and Isaac
Montgomery, Sr.; her son, Anthony Montgomery and siblings,
Minnie Zortorres and Isaac Montgomery.
Susie lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a rich
Montgomery legacy and memories to be cherished by her two
grandchildren, Anthony Montgomery and Marquita Montgomery;
eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Aretha Peebles; a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and caregivers who were also loving
relatives, a special cousin, Lucille Coleman; special nieces, Sherry
Moore and Pamela Moore and special nephew, Samuel as well as
many other relatives and friends.
