Stanley "Sticks" Robinson, Jr., was born on July 14, 1988, to Mrs. Rosa Robinson and Mr. Stanley Harris Robinson, Sr., in Birmingham, Alabama.Stanley confessed Christ at an early age while attending Greater New Antioch Baptist Church. He attended school in the Birmingham public school system and graduated in 2006 from Huffman High School. It was here that he really began to shine on the court as a member of the Huffman Vikings basketball team. In 2006, he was awarded the honor of becoming "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Alabama. He went on to attend the University of Connecticut and was a member of the UCONN Huskies basketball team from 2006 to 2010. He built such a close bond with Coach Jim Calhoun that he referred to him as more than a coach, as a father figure. Most people don't get to fulfill their childhood dreams, but Stanley did. He wanted to become a professional basketball player. He entered into the 2010 NBA draft and was the 2ndround, 59th overall pick, by the Orlando Magic. He accomplished his dream and had a ten year career playing for teams in the NBA D-League, Canada, Iceland, South America, Chile, and the Dominican Republic.Stanley was a great player and an even greater person with a heart of gold. The world knew him as "Sticks," but to his family he was "Manny." He was a gentle giant who had a smile that would instantly brighten up anyone's day. He had a very sweet, kind, and gentle spirit. To know him was to love him.On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, Stanley transitioned from the cares of this world when he was called back home to exchange time for eternity.
