MRS. RUTH NELL CROOKS, known to some as
“Fox” was born on January 14, 1950, in Birmingham,
Alabama. She confessed her love for Christ at an early
age. She was the beloved daughter of Anna Stewart-
Brantley and Samuel Blankenship.
She transitioned peacefully on Saturday August 9,
2025, surrounded by loved ones at St. Vincent’s/UAB
East Medical Center.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Anna
Stewart-Brantley and Samuel Blankenship, A beloved
dad Luis T. Brantley, two brothers Ronnie Stewart and
Pete Blankenship and one sister Betty Devaughn.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband
of 30 years Mr. Harry Crooks, two beloved sisters Sarah
Stewart-Moore and Dianne Blankenship, 3 beautiful
children Wanda Malcom, Marshall Malcom (TC) and
Darnita Malcom (Demarius). 2 stepchildren Antoinette
Barksdale and Harry Crooks, Jr. She was the beloved
grandmother of 10 grandchildren, Monique Maisonet,
a special grandson Antonio Malcom (Jill), Demetrius
Dennis (Candace), a special grand daughter Shaneeka
Malcom, Michael Malcom, Davilyn Malcom, Quavion
Swazer, Jordan Malcom, Aija Malcom and Taylah
Crummie and 10 precious great grandchildren. A
special niece, Shannon Moore whom she adored and
cherished as her own. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and other family members.
Though Ruth is no longer with us in the physical body,
her beauty, love and legacy will live on with us for an
eternity.
