Ruth Bell Obituary

Ruth Bonner Bell was born on September 12, 1920 to the late Will and Lina Bonner in Sanie, Alabama.Ruth went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2020.Ruth accepted Christ at an early age at the Copper Springs Baptist Church in Margaret, Alabama under the leadership of the late Rev. M. L. Roberson. Ruth was educated in the St. Clair County School system and as a young lady, she relocated to Florida and worked in the U.S. Army camps as a nursing assistant. Ruth later relocated back to Margaret, Alabama and helped her mother raise her niece and nephews. Ruth met and married Ruebin Quinton Bell and they moved to Birmingham, AL. Ruth joined Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.L. Ware and Rev. Elijah Jarrett and to this union, ten children were born. For now, over 63 years, Ruth has been a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John E King, Jr. She served faithfully on the Women's choir for several years and loved attending Sunday school. Ruth was very talented and worked as a housekeeper and a private caregiver for numerous clients at Baptist Montclair & St. Vincent's Hospital. Ruth retired from working after the passing of her husband to be a stay at home mother to her children and grandchildren begin that family was always important to her. She was an awesome cook and loved preparing breakfast and lunch when we were not in school and dinner was always hot and ready. Ruth was well-known for her Tipsy white cake during Christmas and preparing one of our favorite meals of fried chicken, pinto beans, cabbage & cornbread. On Saturday morning was time for laundry, ironing, house cleaning and preparing ourselves for Church on Sunday's morning-no excuse. Ruth instilled in us all to love God, do the best that you can do and to always "Treat Everybody Right" She had a passion for gardening, planting flowers and loved sharing them the most with her family & friends. Ruth was an inspiration to all of us with a BIG heart. She was preceded in death by her husband; Ruebin Q. Bell, her son; Samuel Bell, and her daughter; Marilyn BellRuth leaves behind to cherish her memories to her five daughters; Beverly (Donald) Wright of Pelham, AL, Sharon (Sulayman) Rahman, Wanda Bell, Veronica Bell of Birmingham, AL, and Kaysena (Clinton) Powell of Gardendale, AL, three sons; Quinton (Jada) Bell of Atlanta, GA, Ronald (Janet) Bell of Maylene, AL and Merdis Bell, of Pinson, AL, twenty five grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, eight great great- grandchildren, daughter in-law; Eunice Bell, one nephew; Douglas Bonner Sr. of Conley, GA, two nieces; Frances Hornsley of Cincinnati, OH and Emmajean Bonner of Birmingham, AL, one great niece; Mae Frances Hornsley of Cincinnati, OH, a devoted God son, George (Sarah) Rudolph and a loving longtime friend; Rosa Morgan both of Birmingham, Al, with a host of other relatives and friends.
