Carlton Ray Roden was born on December 17, 1951, in Dixiana, Alabama to the late Doris Jean Threadgill and Tommy LeeLong. He departed this life on December 19, 2021.Carlton attended Jefferson County School System and graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1970.Carlton joined the Air Force immediately after graduation and served as a parachute rigger for four years. After returning from the Air Force, he became a certified electrician with the 1BEW136 electrical union. He would go on to pursue several opportunities in the electrical field over the years. In 1993, he was employed with Pemco Aeroplex, which later becameAlabama Aircraft, where he would retire after 18 years of dedicated service."Snook" was a Bradford historian by heart. He adored his hometown. He collected photos and would spend countless hours reflecting on good old Bradford. He would be considered as one of Bradford's patriarchs to many in the community. He was a man of faith, integrity, and love. However, his main passion was ministry. He served many years as a deacon and was called upon on many occasions to deliver his powerful meditations. Later, God called him into another direction of ministry to preach the Word of God. He was elated, yet hesitant to accept His calling. He served 21 faithful years as the pastor of hishome church, Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pinson, Alabama.Carlton was joined in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Bernice Jones Roden, on August 30, 1972. This beautiful union was blessed with three daughters and bonus daughter whom they helped raise.Carlton was preceded in death by his mothers, Eunice Roden and Doris Threadgill, and fathers, Wilbert Roden and Arthur Threadgill.Carlton leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 49 years, Bernice Roden; three daughters, Carlene (Kenneth) Shanks, Lorinda (Cedric) McIntyre, and Britney (David) Craig; one bonus daughter, Charity (Dennis) Burns; six grandchildren,Ebonee, Bradley, Micah, Colton, Chloie, and Nehemiah; father, Tommy (Mary) Long; siblings, Jonathan (Shina) Rossell, Victor (Paula) Long, Dasel (Roderick) Marshall, Wendell (Tiffany) Bridges, and Willie Bridges; two sisters-in-law, Rita Jones and Shirley (James) Anderson; two adopted sisters-in-law, Vanessa Haydens and LaTarsha Jones; one brother-in-law, Roland(Rachel) Jones; two special cousins, Reginald Roden and Barbara Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
