Reba Gulley Obituary

Mrs. Reba S. Gulley was born on September 26,1956. She was the youngest of twenty-one children born to the late Thomas, Sr. and Cornelius Shepherd of Birmingham, AL. Reba faithfully attended church with her mother and other siblings at 17th Street A.O.H. Church of God. There she eagerly participated in Sunday School classes, YPLJ, and other youth activities held at the church. She had a bright, infectious smile that could light up any room! Reba was educated in the Birmingham City Schools and graduated from Ramsay High School. Following graduation, Reba furthered her education at Lawson State Community College where she received a CNA Certification. This choice to become a caregiver displayed sensitivity, caring, consideration and dedication to those requiring specialized care. Reba was employed for several years at UAB Hospital and, most recently, the ARC of Birmingham. In May of 2009 Reba rededicated her life to Christ. On September 27, 2009 she became a member of the Faith Chapel family and began to serve as a Greeter with the second Sunday Host Ministry Team. Reba loved her family, traveling with God's Grace Small Group, fellowshipping with the noon study group, and Faith Chapel. On April 2, 2020 Reba S. Gulley departed this life. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Mr. Willie Gulley. Those left behind to cherish loving memories of her are: daughter, Kimberly (Derry) Dunlap; sons, David Smiley and Randy (Tara) Gulley, all of Birmingham, Alabama; sister: Betty Sanders of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; brothers, Thomas Shepherd and Willie (Valerie) Shepherd of Birmingham, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Ireauna, David, Chelsey, Ja'Marcus, She'keyria, Da'Mahrion and Darnell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by several special friends, Carolyn Carlisle, Carmen Berry, Sherry Thornton, Mary Chavers, and dedicated neighbors, Wanda Walker and Edith Coleman.
