Mr. Nelse William Davis, Jr. was the second of four children born to Nelse William Davis, Sr. and Jessie Mae Smith (Pinkston) on March 29, 1935 in Woodstock, Alabama. Before this union there were six other siblings. All nine preceded him in death. Nelse William Davis, Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama.Mr. Nelse William Davis, Jr. accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age and united with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, West Blocton, Alabama. There he served as a very dedicated Deacon for over 50 years and Sunday School teacher for 30 years. He was very instrumental and active in the Mount Pilgrim District.Mr. Nelse William Davis, Jr. was affectionately known in his community as "Man", "Jake" and "Shorty". He graduated from H. D. Davidson/Bibb County Training School, "Class of 1955" in Centreville, Alabama. He worked for Pullman Standard Company where he was a supervisor. "Man" Davis was a great leader and organizer. He was the leader of the Voters League for Bibb County. He educated voters on the voting process and provided information about the candidates. He made sure they had transportation to the polls. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and observing the beauty of God's creation and sharing stories he experienced during his 84 years of life. He was loved and respected throughout the West Blocton and Lasses Community.Nelse was joined in marriage to Gertha Mae Gadson on June 23, 1956 and made West Blocton, Alabama their home. They were together for 63 years. From this union fifteen children were born. He adored his children and always said his children were his proudest accomplishment.He is survived by his loving wife, Gertha Mae Davis; fifteen children, Elizabeth Ann Cottingham, Lester (Les) Ray Davis, Hattie Mae Davis, Deborah Davis, Teresa Faye Davis, William Carlton Davis, Clinton Antonio Davis (Diane), Gladys Faith Smith (Cornell), Mark Everett Davis (Yolanda), Jeanette Amankwah (Joseph), Katrina RenĂ¡
