Mattie V. Morrow

Once again, God has picked another beautiful flower from our famly for His garden. Deaconess Mattie V. Morrow was born on June 4, 1925, to her devoted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel and Emma Carter in Dolomite, Alabama.She was joined in marriage to the late Deacon Berlin Morrow, Sr. on January 3, 1945. She was married to Deacon Berlin Marrow for 74 years.Mattie joined St. John Baptist Church of Dolomite, Alabama, at the age of 10 under Rev. T. Hall. After marriage, Berlin and Mattie Morrow joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brighton, Alabama, under Rev. J. D. Daniels. She served as a Sunday school teacher, in missionary society, BTU, VBS, and as a facilitator of children's programs.Mattie worked at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, until her retirement in 1979. Mattie was a devoted church member, enjoyed community services, as well as being the president of the Brighton Band Boosters at Brighton High School.She will be greatly missed by her three children, Elbert (Barbara), Carolyn (Wilson, deceased), Berlin, Jr. (Sharon), and Lori Ann (deceased).She is survived by: seven grandchildren, Lani, Nissa, Dana, Earl, Melanie, Tiffani, and Sandra; 15 great-grandchildren; greatgreat-grandchildren; goddaughters, Claudette Baxter and Loretta Williams; lifetime friends, Mrs. Oscar Gibson and Jewel
