Mrs. Louise Smith Dillard departed this life on Friday, August 10, 2007 at Fair Haven Retirement and Nursing Home, Irondale, Alabama. She was born in Sumpter, Alabama on January 23, 1925 to the late Steve and Maybelle Smith. She was the fifth oldest of seven siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. She was a member of 32nd Street Baptist Church where she received Christ and later, in 1961, became a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. For the past eleven years, she has been a member of Woodlawn Deliverance Church. It is stated, "For all are born to return as they came, birth and death are in essence the same." She met and married Jack Dillard in 1941 and out of this union fifteen children were born. Beginning when her children were old enough, she made sure they all attended Sunday School, Summer Vacation Bible School, and Church. She knew that if you train a child "in the way they should go", they would not depart from God. Whenever she needed to get in to the presence of the Lord, she would pray and sing her favorite song, "I Need Thee." "Mudda", as she was affectionately called, loved the Lord and would sit for hours listening to old tapes and CDs of gospel music which seemed to soothe her spirit.
