Linda Faye Hood Pope was born July 5, 1955, to Lucinda
Harris and Jodie B. Hood in Birmingham, Alabama.
Linda confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at her
childhood church, 6th Street Peace Baptist Church under the
late reverend J. H. Stinson. She was a Class of 1974 graduate
of A. H. Parker High School, where her talent for music was
nurtured and thrived in the choir. Later in life, she joined the
Believer’s Temple Church under Pastor Herman Henderson,
where she was the mother of the Church. She was at one point
over Pastor’s aid department and was a force to be reckoned
with in the music department. She did praise and worship
alongside her daughter every Sunday. She truly had a voice
that could stir your soul, feeling that she meant every word
she sang. Now although many may know her for her amazing
voice and fashion, no one is gonna forget Mother Pope’s
collard greens.
Linda Faye Hood Pope was preceded in death
by both mother and father, Lucinda Harris
and Jodie B. Hood; beloved son, Demarcus
Hood; niece, Damonica Webster Wright; and
sisters, Marcil Hood, Edna Hood, and Martha
Hamilton.
