Lewis Lee Showers Jr.

Lewis Lee Showers, Jr., was a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a genuine friend tomany. Lewis was always willing to share what he had and often lended a helping hand to those who in need. He was a giver, not always monetarily, but for many it was just a place to lay their heads. He can truly be recognized as his brother's keeper.Many people knew Lewis because of his great ability to play basketball during his elementary and high school years. Being the height of 6'5", he dominated the game for those teams he came up against. Being brought up in church, he was a lover of music and singing, and attempted many times to play the piano.Growing up in church, he confessed Jesus Christ as his savior at a young age under the teaching of our late grandfather Pastor Steve Boler at our home church of Spiritual Union Christian Church. Lewis stood and often echoed the words to "Trust God" through whatever circumstance big or small, not knowing his faith would be tested when he lost his only son, Lavaris Evans. Although some days were long and difficult he continued to stand until his passing.On the afternoon of Saturday, November 28, 2020, God opened His heavenly gates to allow His servant to come in for rest.Lewis was preceded in death by: wife; Sanjanetta Treadwell; son, Lavaris Evans; father, Lewis Lee Showers, and brother; Eddie McQuarley.He leaves to cherish his precious memories: special friend, Jessie Bryant; granddaughter, Destiny Evans; mother, Rosa B, Smith, father, Willie Marshall Smith; brothers; Richard Showers (Tamara) Raymond (Shante) Showers, Johnny (Annie) Showers, Ambrose Smith, Otis McQuarley; sisters, Lisa (Tony) Abrams, Cheryl Satterfield and Denise (Al) Bell; a special cousin, Ruby Gaines; and a host of cousins, uncle, aunt, nephews, nieces and friends.
