Josephine M. Smith

Mrs. Josephine Munford Smith, our Mudear, was born June 25, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Danny and Annie Bell Munford. The family later moved to Warrior, Alabama, where she attended school and met and married the late Harvey Lee Smith. Of this union, fourteen children were born. She confessed Christ under the leadership of Pastor Columbus F. Christian at First Missionary Baptist Church, Warrior, Alabama. Mrs. Josephine was a professional homemaker, raising fourteen children with an extreme pride in cooking, baking, cleaning, and instilling basic instructions of life to each one, with the fondest memory being how she would set-out/dress her table with all the fixings during the Christmas holidays. (Oh, that aroma!!!)Preceding her in death were her parents, Danny Sr. and Annie Bell Munford; brothers, Danny Jr., Joe (her twin), and Sylvester Munford; sisters, Mary Singleton, Dora Bell Nation, Coretta Munford, and Clarice Wilson; husband, Harvey Lee Smith; son, Harvey Lamar Smith; grandsons, Kelvin Blakely, Johnny Smith, and Ricky Wilson, Jr.She leaves to cherish her memories: nine daughters, Jeanetta (Edward) Blakely, Cecelia (Mallory) Malcolm, Joseph Ann (James) Simmons, Shelia (Ralph) Sudduth, Hellen Smith-Wilson, Louise Smith (William) Bradley, Anita (David) Smith, Angela Smith-Ashford, and Vivian (Ever) Pruitt; four sons, Earl Lee, Jeffrey, Timothy (LeQuitta), and Mark (Tequila) Smith; two brothers, Chester Mumford and Frank (Catherine) Munford. One sister, Johnnie Mae Stewart of Dayton, Ohio; twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
