John Lee Davis was born October 25, 1946 to Mackie Lee Davis and Ruby Lee Davis in Birmingham, AL. He was the second-born of three boys.John was educated in the Birmingham school system, where he attended Powderly Elementary and Wenonah High School. John later attended Miles College, where he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Upon graduation from Miles, he married, and from this union one daughter was born. He was then drafted into the United States Army in 1969, where he served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He later met and married Deborah Jean Daniels in 1975. To this union two daughters were born. John confessed Christ at an early age. He joined The Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God, where he was ordained Deacon in 1973. He dedicated his life to Christ until his last day.John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and one brother. John leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Deborah J. Davis; three daughters, Kimberly (Antonio) Davis-Butler, April(Ebrima) Davis-Ceesay, and Maredith (Leroy) Davis-Banks; five grandchildren, Matthew Butler, Brianna Davis, Jarriatou Ceesay, Marleigh Banks, and Levingston Banks; one brother, William H. Davis; and host of other family and friends.
