Jane was born in Markeeta, Alabama, to the late Frankie
Jackson Murphy and late Nazeree Murphy, Sr. She confessed
Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Moody
under leadership of Reverend Henderson. She graduated
from St. Clair Training School. She worked for the St. Clair
County School System until she retired. She loved doing a lot
of things, was very crafty, and a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters,
Fannie Graves and Junie Thompson; four brothers,
Nazeree Murphy, Jr., Frank Murphy, Cleothia Murphy, and
Percy Murphy; daughter, Ingrid Murphy; several aunts and
uncles; and two nephews.
Ms. Jane leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter,
Cecilia Murphy Thorns (Boise); one son, Eric Murphy (Amy);
two sons-in-love, Rethell Davis, Jr. (Barbra), Ceary Embry
(Chris); three grandchildren, Sharonda Murphy, Sabrina
Murphy, and Toris Murphy; one great-grand, Landyn
McBride; two godsons, Robert Kinney, Jr., and Demonte
Holyfield (Christina); four nephews, Steven Murphy, Cedric
Brown (Anna), Freddrick Murphy (Mauricia), and Ryan
Looney (Janet); five nieces, Kim Murphy, Paulette Norman
(late Tony), Jarietta Murphy Byers (Marcel), Sharon Murphy
Pearson (Lambert), and Merisa Murphy Reed (Desmond); one
niece-in-love, Tameka Voltz Solomon (Dell); sisters-in-law,
Ellenor Murphy and Eula Murphy; sisters-in-love, Jackie Hill,
Carolyn Hicks, Theresa Chattman, Elmira Threadford (David)
Carnetta Holman Brown, Jennifer Wester Witmne (Bill), and
Nakia Kinney Fomby (Kenny); mom’s butterfly, Tracye Paul
