Idella C. Smitherman

Idella Croskey Smitherman was born on June 1, 1952 to Walter and Susie Croskey in Birmingham, Alabama.She was educated in the Birmingham Public School system and attended Carver High School where she was also a member of Carver's Track and Field Team. Cooking was her passion and she worked as a Chef for many years until she retired. She was known as the "Community Chef" who always cooked for her family and friends. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church where she also served as President of the Usher Board for many years.She was preceded in death by a son, George Croskey, two grandchildren, Marche' Flowers & Christopher Croskey, and one brother, Larry Croskey.She leaves to cherish her loving and fun memories: two daughters; Tyise (Patrick) Arrington (Huntsville, AL), Sofia (John) Miles (Birmingham, AL). Three God-Daughters; Adrianne & Kewania Reese (Birmingham, AL) & Kristina Bynum (Detroit, Michigan). Six grandchildren: Patrick Arrington, Jr., Briana (Calvin) Weatherspoon, Jaleesia Croskey, Alexander Arrington, John J. Miles, Tameria Arrington. Four Great-Grandchildren: Jeremiah McKinzy, Malia McKinzy, Brooklynn Croskey, Chase Brown. Five God-Grandkids: Keinan Reese, Raymond Madison-Reese, Andrea Reese, Rayneisha Madison-Reese, Rayven Madison-Reese. Three God Great-grandkids: Dekoain Reese, Paris Reese & King Walters. Seven sisters: Beatrice Mabry, Willie Mae Addison, Dovetta Williams, Joann Sherman, Susie Holt, Robin Whitaker, Vanesta Bibb. Two brothers: Walter Croskey, Jr. & Terry Croskey. A very special friend, Pat Reese, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
