Gregory Strode was born on June 29, 1956, in Leeds, Alabama, to the late Willie J. Strode and Mother Minnie L. Brown. Gregory, who was affectionally known as "BoBo," was the oldest of three children born into this union. He departed this life on January 8, 2022, in his home. He was preceded in death by: his father, Willie J. Strode; step-mother, Sharon Strode; sister, Felisha Strode; and nephew, FaShone Strode.Gregory accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was baptized in his youth at Mt. Avery Missionary Baptist Church in Margaret, Alabama. He attended Margaret Elementary School in Margaret, Alabama, through the fifth grade. Then he attended St. Clair County School in Odenville, Alabama, through the seventh grade. In 1970 the family moved to Toledo, Ohio. There he attended Pickett Elementary School to complete his elementary school years in Toledo, Ohio. After which, he attended Scott High School through the tenth grade. Gregory decided he did not like Toledo, Ohio, and talked his parents into allowing him to return to his roots, Margaret, Alabama. Upon returning he lived with his paternal grandparents, an arrangement his parents settled before his return. Gregory also decided school wasn't for him. Therefore, he completed his high school education through a GED program which allowed him to do what he loved most, and that was to work on cars.Gregory became a top-notch mechanic, and his skills were in very high demand. He was self-employed. Throughout his life he owned a number of auto repair shops. He remained in business until he began to have health challenges. Repairing cars was not his only passion. Drag racing was Gregory's other passion. His skill set in drag racing was as awesome as his skills as a mechanic. His drag racing name was "Bama Bad Bo," a name he was very proud of. The name of his favorite race car was "Purple Rain."He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, LaMeika FaYonne Strode of Lincoln, AL; son, Gregory Alexander Strode of Moody, AL; grandson, Gregory Takeylin Malik Strode; mother, Mother Minnie L. Brown; step-father, John L. Brown; sister, Teresa Webb; brother, Curtis (Talah) Strode step-brother, Tony Smith, all of Toledo, OH; and step-brother, La Monte (Patricia) Brown of Stone Mountain, GA; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and kind friends.
