With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Erica Miranda “Rannie” Holland – daughter, granddaughter, sister, and mother – who left us on June 5, 2024, after a lifelong battle with sickle cell anemia. Rannie was the heart and soul of our family, a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Wherever she went, and whomever she met, she inspired others around her to see what is beautiful and joyous in life.
Born November 30, 1984, Rannie was the firstborn daughter of Patricia Harris and Rickey Holland, deceased. From the beginning, her irrepressible smile and sense for adventure were ever-present as was her fierce dedication to family. She was strengthened by her bonds with her siblings and they in turn were strengthened by her. Rannie often had to adjust her life goals due to her condition, but overcame every setback to build a happy and fulfilling life. The pain, fatigue, and costs of living with sickle cell could not conquer her sweet spirit and optimistic outlook. She worked tirelessly to make a better life for herself and, eventually, her daughter, Anjelica. The traits that were evident from a young age were in full effect in her adult life as she built a community of loyal friends from her paths through work, church, and Anjelica’s school. Because of who Rannie was, these people did not hesitate to come forward to help her in her deepest passion: giving Anjelica the best possible childhood.
With Rannie’s passing, the world has lost a sweet and passionate soul who never wanted to see others suffer. She was grounded by her faith and elevated by her love for her family. Her laugh was infectious and her words always kind. You could not be in Rannie’s presence without feeling better than you did before – this was the effect she had on people. We mourn her but are heartened to know that her soul is now free from the pain that she had to deal with. We miss her but we are left in awe by how
much she was able to do for Anjelica. We will not be the same without her, but we are all so much better for having her in our lives for this all too brief time. We are grateful to Rannie for the inspiration and love she gave all of us.
She is survived by her mother Pat, older brother Matthew Evan Taylor, younger sister Tiffany Holland Daniel, and her daughter Anjelica Nadia Bryant. She joins the souls of her father Rickey Holland and her baby sister Belle Claudia Holland as well as her cherished grandparents Evans and Ann Harris and Bennie Lee Holland.
