Earlene Borden Obituary

Earlene Alexander Borden was born on November 15,
1938, in Flat Creek, Alabama to the union of Harrison and Mary
Louise Alexander. She was the youngest of eight siblings,
Mildred Burt, Dorothy Mays, Lula Mays, Gladys Burt, Annie
Mae Myles, Marie Bufford and one brother, Herman Lee, all
preceded her in death.

At an early age she confessed Christ and remained faithful.
Because of her faith and belief in God, she wanted to comfort
her children and family, who were constantly at her bedside,
to know that she was ready to be with the Lord and “It Is Well
With My Soul”.

She graduated from Westfield High School, Graysville,
Alabama.

She met the love of her life, Wilfred Leslie Borden, Sr. Their
marriage of sixty-eight years was blessed with four children.
As a young girl she enjoyed playing basketball, going to the
“picture show” and helping her mother cook delicious meals
for the family. As an adult she always found time to dance,
“The Spank”, where her husband would tell her to, “SPANK,
BABY SPANK”. She enjoyed playing “Mexican Train” with her
young friends. She knew the importance of keeping her mind
alert by playing solitaire, Bible word games and her favorite
pastime, FACEBOOK. She enjoyed watching westerns, Perry
Mason and Matlock.

Earlene had an impeccable work ethic with a deep
love for helping others, which is why she worked for 30
years at Norwood Clinic as a Medical Assistant. She always
remembered and thought about the patients she encountered.
The compassion she displayed was a blessing to all. (I Peter 3).
Everyone who knew her, shares that she is the epitome,
example of what a true virtuous woman really is. (Proverbs
31:10-12)

Giving back was so important to her. Through her church
membership, she was a dutiful stewardess, member of the
Excelsior Club, and a faithful member of Saint Luke A.M.E.
Church.

The memory of Mrs. Borden shall remain in the hearts of
her beloved children, Valerie Borden, Wilfred L., Jr. (Pamela)
Borden, Gwendolyn (Charles) McDonald, the late Emanuel
(Joyce) Jenkins and the late Cornelius Borden; sisters-in-law,
Gwendolyn Brunner and Gloria Borden; one brother-in-law,
Nathaniel Borden, Jr.; eight grandchildren, one preceded her
in death, C.J.; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and
nephews (who lovingly called her, Aunt Lean, Tee Tee, My
Suga Suga, Aunt Butter, Aunt Leanie Beanie and Aunt Earlene);
cousins; special friends, Miss Lucille Jackson, Ms. Bobbie Nell,
Ms. Bertha Horton, Miss Madge Washington, Miss Cherry
Parham, and Mrs. Audria Skipwith. She leaves to mourn, ALL
her “adopted daughters” and one granddaughter. You all know
who you are. Thank you for loving our Mom.
