Doris Brewster Smoot

Mrs. Doris J. Brewster Smoot was born on April 27, 1935, to Edward and Pauline Brewster. She graduated from Parker High School. She was a majorette. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.She was a hard worker and very dedicated, starting from a young age, working various jobs throughout her life. She had a smile like no other, and rarely would you find a frown on her face unless you were doing something to one of her babies (and they were all her babies). Her love for kids went far beyond her bloodline. She accepted any and everyone's children as her own. She was "Granny" to all of them. Nothing gave her more joy in life than seeing them run and play in her yard as she sat on her porch and watched them for hours.The love she had for her family and friends was unexplainable. When they came to visit her in town or from out of town, she would glow because of the love she had for them. If you neededadvice, comfort, food, a listening ear, or just a shoulder to cry on, she was always there, saying, "It's gonna be all right, baby." There is so much that can be said about her, and everyone has their own story to tell. She was truly amazing and a true inspiration and definitely one of a kind. She is gone, but never forgotten. In our hearts she will always be because of the love she so freely gave to all. Your journey on Earth has ended, but your love will remain forever.She departed this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Edward and Pauline Brewster; husband, John H. Smoot; two sons, Gary WayneBrewster and Mirles Brewster; one grandson, Edward Terrell Brewster; four brothers; and seven sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Jerome Brewster, Vincent Brewster, and Dale Brewster; four daughters, Flora Prince, Bonita Brewster, Yolanda (Lonnie) Hollman, and Pamela (Osie) Shears; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frances J. Brewster; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
