Cornelius R. Borden

Cornelius Roberto Borden, affectionately known as Yogi, was born on August 31, 1962 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the youngest of four children born to Wilfred L. Borden, Sr. and Earlene Borden. He was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Mr. Borden attended Lewis Elementary School and Glenn High School, both in Birmingham. He was employed by Dunn Construction and Bruno's Warehouse. He was a Christian and a member of Saint Luke A.M.E. Church. Mr. Borden loved sports and fishing. His favorite team was The Alabama Crimson Tide, and he really enjoyed watching Coach Nick Saban. He also enjoyed rock and roll music from the 1970s and the 1980s. The simple things in life made Mr. Borden smile such as sitting on the front porch and watching the rain. Mr. Borden's father, Wilfred L. Borden, Sr., preceded him in death. Those left to cherish Mr. Borden's memory are his beloved daughter, Shay Sledge (Darais); his devoted mother, Earlene Borden; two sisters, Valerie Borden and Gwendolyn McDonald (Charles); two brothers, Emanuel Jenkins (Joyce) and Wilfred L. Borden Jr. (Pamela); two grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
