Claudette Jackson Mitchell was born on September 1, 1936, in Bessemer, Alabama, to Sam and Toncie McAdory Jackson.She was educated in the Bessemer school system and found much joy in attending class of 1954 activities, which included all reunions, luncheons, and other activities.At a young age, Claudette accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mount Hebron Baptist Church. She remained a life-long and faithful member.In 1952, Claudette was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Mitchell. This union was blessed with two cherished daughters.Claudette and her late sister, Emma Jean, enjoyed a loving and close sisterly bond that only ended at Emma Jean's death in 2018. When you saw one, the other was either there orvery nearby.Claudette Jackson Mitchell departed this life Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Brookwood Princeton Medical Center. Her parents, husband, sisters, Christine Hancock and EmmaJackson, sister-in-law, Ella Jackson, aunts, uncles, and grandchildren, Johnnie D. Gay, Towanda F. Witherspoon, and Recarldo Hudson all preceded her in death.Cherishing her memories are: daughters, Shirley Wren (Jessie), Sandra Gay (Johnnie); grandchildren, Yolawnde (Wayne), Jessica Wren, and Venyette Wren; greatgrandchildren,Laquiana Garner (Anthony), Edricus Green, Takeishia Witherspoon, Taneishia Witherspoon, Johnnie S. Gay III, Jagarion Paige, Tamika Witherspoon, and Kylie Wren; great-great-grandchildren, D'Andrea Gardner and L'Andre Gardner; siblings, Clifford Jackson andEddie Jackson, both of Columbus, OH; two sisters-in-law, Doris Jackson of Columbus, OH, and Clemmie Hatten of Fayetteville, NC; one brother-in-law, Herman Smith of New York, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one special friend of more than sixty years, Frank Chaney.
