Casearean Demetrius (Meechy) Johnson, the youngest son of Mrs. Bertha Mae Smith, was born June 18,1972 in Birmingham, Alabama. He also grew up under the parental guidance of his loving grandparents, Mr. L.C. and Mrs. Myra Z. Johnson.
He graduated from Pinson Valley High School, Class of 1990. He was employed by the city of Birmingham for 15 years. As a child, Meechy developed a deep love for music of all kinds. He was an exceptional drummer, keyboardist, singer and producer who spent every waking moment creating beautiful music. Meechy had a gentle spirit along with his gift for encouraging others. He had a fun-loving personality and good nature.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Mae Smith, grandparents, L.C. and Myra Z. Johnson, sister Rhonda M. Barfield and aunt, Charles Marie Davis.
Meechy leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Jeanine D. Johnson, his brother, James D. Barfield Johnson Sr. and his sister-in-law, Cheryl D. Johnson. He is also survived by three beautiful nieces, Gabrielle J. Williams (Michael), Victoria A. Cruz and his great niece Azalea Grace Martin and his nephews, Corey J. Barfield, Lawrene C. Cruz, Alexander B. Cruz, James D. Barfield Johnson Jr, Pablo Cruz Jr, Matthew J. Barfield, and a host of family and friends.
Meechy stepped out of time and into eternity on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. He will be sorely missed and always alive in our hearts.
