Carlton Terry Finley was born on March 27, 1960, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Walter Finley and Maebell Finley. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and joined West End Hills Baptist Church.
He was educated in the Birmingham City School System. He had a passion for automobiles and dutifully served his community for decades as an auto mechanic. Towards the end of his career, he served as a property maintenance technician at Sardis Baptist Church. Carlton had a love for gadgets and electronics. He enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together to understand how they worked. Explaining the inner workings of devices was one of his greatest passions.
On September 30, 1991, he married his beloved wife, Candace Finley. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and devotion, sharing 34 years of beautiful marriage. Together Carlton and Candace were blessed with three children. He was also the proud father of three additional children whom he shared with the late Roxanne Cooper.
Mr. Carlton Finley entered eternal rest surrounded by loved ones on February 24, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Finley, and Maebell Finley; brothers, Robert Dantzler, Johnny Dantzler, and James Charles Finley; and sisters, Myra Joyce Finley, Annie G. Garret, Ruby P. Ocosco, and Roslynd Robinson.
His memory and legacy will be cherished by: his loving wife, Candace Finley; children, Leshawn Cooper, Carlton Cooper, Latishia Cooper, Sherika Finley, Walter Finley, and Samantha Finley; brother, Walter Finley; sister, Cynthia Finley; as well as a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
