Arthur Threadgill

Mr. Arthur Threadgill was born August 2, 1939, in Majestic, Alabama, to Mr. George, Sr., and Mrs. Nancy B. Threadgill. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System.On January 19, 1959, Mr. Arthur Threadgill was united in holy matrimony to Miss Doris Jean Roden. Early in their marriage, the young couple decided to seek better job opportunities and migrated to New York. Arthur worked in the New York Cityconstruction industry, retiring after more than forty years of service. After retirement, they decided to follow their dream to return home to be near family and friends. Upon their return home, they promptly united with Shady Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of their son, Pastor Carlton Roden.Sadly, Arthur's wife of sixty-two years, Doris Jean Threadgill, preceded him in death on March 23, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Less than five months after her death, Arthur ended his labor on earth at St. Vincent's East on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at5:38 in the evening.Others preceding him in death were his parents; son, Nicholas Threadgill, Sr.; brothers, Willie, Eddie, and George Threadgill; sisters, Alberta Brown and Queen Ester Brown; sisters-in-law, Lula Threadgill and Thelma Threadgill; and brothers-inlaw,Cleophus Brown and Cornelius Brown.Those left to cherish loving memories are: a stepson, Pastor Carlton (Bernice) Roden; sister-in- law, Lilly Threadgill; grandchildren, Carlene (Kenneth) Shanks, Lorinda (Cedric) McIntyre, Britney (David) Craig, Nicholas Threadgill, Jr., of New York, and Matte'a Threadgill of Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Ebonee, Micah, Colton, Chloie, and Nehemiah; special nieces, Pamela Threadgill and Jeanette Brown-Jones; one of God's special servants, Sybil Moore; and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends.
