Andrew Lee Marrisett was born May 4, 1936, to Wash Marrisett and Lula Mae Bruce in Birmingham, Alabama. Andrew departed this life on August 14, 2023, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama.
Andrew dedicated his life to serving his fellow man in the fight for Freedom, Justice and Equality.
Throughout his life he worked for several organizations focused on the betterment of his people such as American Friends Service Committee and Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He received several awards for his community services, and he is missed for his Podcast messages.
Andrew Marrisett is mentioned in several publications regarding the American Civil Rights Movement. They include, "My Soul is Rested, author Howell Raines; book "Down to Now", author Pat Watters; and several other articles, interviews, and accounts.
Andrew is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Angela Marrisett-Maxwell and grandson, Mr. Corey J.
Maxwell of Locust Grove, GA; son, Andrew Kwanza Marrisett, Il (Tammie Sanders) of Prattville, AL, granddaughter, Nkenge Marrisett and great granddaughter, NaCoya Marrisett of Locust Grove, GA; a devoted friend, Mrs. Theresa O'Hara and a host of other friends and as
sociates.
