Obituary for Sean N. Atkins

Sean Nicholas Atkins was born on November 04, 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Damon Jacob “Sonny” Atkins and Doris Ozella (Walker) Atkins. He was the youngest of three children, all boys.

He confessed Christ at an early age while being a member of First Baptist Booker Heights.

Sean was educated in the Birmingham Public School System and as such attended Jackson Elementary, Arrington Middle, and West End High (Class of 1998). He continued perfecting and sharpening his skills by attending Tuskegee and Alabama State Universities.

In his early youth, Sean played saxophone, sung in the choir; was a member on the New Hope Church Youth Basketball team; Junior Varsity Basketball and Track and Field teams at West End High School.

During his life, Sean performed stewardship a variety of position which included: Recreational Director of the YMCA Summer Camp; Youth Counselor at the Jewish Community Center; and served as Usher; Deacon; Sunday School Teacher and Audio Recorder of the church sermons here at First Baptist.

As a young adult during and after college, Sean worked for a number of employers prior to joining the Brannon Honda team. He worked for Office Max, Goodwill Industries; Assistant Manager at College Bookstore (Montgomery); as a Call Center Representative in Telemarketing.

Also as a young adult, Sean would become a Prince Hall Freemason and would be initiated into the Mulga Pride # 403 Lodge by Worshipful Master Earl Brown. He attained the degree of Master Mason.

It would be on his thirty-fifth (35) birthday, while preparing to go out to a movie to celebrate his birth that his style of life would forever change. On that day he would suffer a heart-attack.
On Friday evening, April 12, 2019, at the age of thirty-eight (38), Sean departed this life and ascended into glory to forever be with the Lord. As a result of his transition, he leaves behind a mother, Doris Ozella (Walker) Atkins of Birmingham; brothers Damon W. “Lee” (Tomiko) Atkins of Kennesaw, Georgia; Brian C.
